Job description
Our Housekeeping Supervisor manages daily cleaning operations, inspects guest rooms, self-catering accommodation and public areas for quality control, trains staff, and coordinates with front desk and maintenance teams to ensure high standards of hygiene, safety, and guest satisfaction. They will report directly to our Head Housekeeper. This is a hands-on role.
Responsibilities
- Inspection and Quality Control: inspecting guest rooms, self-catering accommodation, corridors and public spaces on a daily basis to ensure compliance with hotel cleanliness standards.
- Staff Supervision and Training: conduct pre-shift briefings, assign cleaning tasks, train new hires, and provide ongoing positive coaching to all team members.
- Scheduling and workflow: create staff rotas, manage attendance and adjust daily assignments based on hotel occupancy levels (bearing in mind any marketing offers which may fill rooms at the last minute).
- Inventory Management: monitor levels of stock of cleaning materials, linen, guest products, report shortages, and/ or order stock.
- Maintenance co-ordination: report room maintenance issues promptly and track repair progress with our Maintenance person.
- Room Cleaning: Change bed linens, make beds, and dust or polish furniture
- Bathroom Sanitization: Scrub and sanitize showers, tubs, sinks, and toilets; replace used towels.
- Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum carpets in rooms and assigned corridors.
- Guest Service: Greet guests politely and handle basic requests for extra towels or amenities
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Attention to Detail. High standards for cleanliness and organization
- Proven work experience as an experienced senior room attendant in the hotel industry.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and push cleaning trolleys for long shifts.
- Reliable, discreet, and able to work independently or on a team.
- Capable of finishing rooms efficiently within strict hotel schedules
- Flexibility. Available to work the required shift pattern
Desirable Skills
- Experience: Proven work experience as a housekeeping supervisor or an experienced senior room attendant in the hotel industry.
- Knowledge: strong grasp of commercial cleaning chemicals, safety regulations (COSHH) and sanitation standards.
- Leadership: Excellent communication, delegation, motivation and conflict resolution skills
- Professional Industry recognised hospitality qualifications (NVQ)
- Formal education is usually not required; prior cleaning or hospitality experience is preferred but on-the-job training is common.

We supply uniform, meal on duty, on-the-job & essential product training, free, secure staff car parking, employee of the month award, staff discounts. No staff accommodation is available. Based on 5 shifts out 7 per week, including weekends. Flexibility is required. Evidence required of Right to Work in UK/NI & Immigration Status (SHARE CODE).
