Playworker


Job description

This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all age groups within our setting, working both in our day-care and out-of-schools provision. You'll have a varied working day while supporting play-based learning, positive interactions, and a nurturing environment for children. You’ll be part of a supportive and welcoming team, helping to create engaging play opportunities, support outdoor exploration, encourage creativity, and contribute to making every child feel valued and happy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, organisation, and delivery of curriculum and play activities.
  • Carry out daily observations and update the child management system as required.
  • Support the implementation of Minimum Standards.
  • Ensure that children are cared for in a happy, safe, and nurturing environment.
  • Work as part of the team to maintain high-quality care and practice.
  • Maintain daily room records as directed by the Manager.
  • Ensure equipment is stored safely and report any damaged or unsafe items.
  • Participate in daily cleaning and sterilisation routines.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with children, parents, staff, and committee members.
  • Assist in preparing and serving snacks while following good food hygiene practices.
  • Administer First Aid when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of Drumahoe Childcare Ltd YMCA Childcare.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • QCF Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 12 months experience working in a childcare setting.

Desirable Skills

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Child Protection / Safeguarding training.

Further Information

Work Time: Will vary weekly and will be scheduled between 7.45am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. Please Note: This post is subject to Access NI clearance and Social Services vetting checks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and is keen to learn, develop, and grow within a childcare environment.
