Overview We are looking for a Catering/Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Beverly Lodge. This is a Full time contract, working 4 X 10 hour shifts per week from 8am-6pm, between Monday to Sunday. Sponsorship is not available for this role. Main Function of the Job: To provide a catering service for the whole Home and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of efficiency and cleanliness expected within all areas of the kitchen.
• Ensure that all areas of the kitchen are cleaned using an organised schedule of work as organised by the Cook / Assistant Cook.
• Adhere to safe Handling of Food Regulations and assist the Cook /Assistant Cook in the preparation, cooking and serving of food to the residents / patients.
• Ensure the residents’/patients’ confidentiality is maintained at all times and their privacy, dignity and choice is respected.
• Report all breakages to Cook / Assistant Cook & dispose of all breakages carefully and appropriately, report all faulty equipment/repairs/replacements in the Maintenance book & report all accidents, incidents and near misses.
• Attend staff meetings as organised by the Home Manager.
• Adhere to Safe Food Handling regulations.
• For preparation and serving of food to patient under direction of Cook / Assistant Cook.
• Attend all required staff training as organised by the Home Manager.
• Be aware of the Home’s Health and Safety Policy and ensure compliance with same, take appropriate precautions in relation to cross infection and wear appropriate personal, protective equipment/clothing if required as per COSHH guide.
• Ensure safety signs are displayed when necessary e.g. wet floor, maintain all equipment in good, clean, working order. If any faults occur in the equipment do not use and report to Cook / Assistant Cook.
• Adhere to the following; Home’s fire safety policy at all times, home’s policy on COSHH and home policy on moving and handling.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 years kitchen experience to include basic food preparation, temperature control.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working within a hospital or Nursing Home environment.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
