Development Officer


Job description

This rewarding role will provide you with an opportunity to develop and nurture relationships with property contacts and established developers in order to secure a pipeline of social housing projects, leading on exciting proposals and delivering high quality homes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the identification of development opportunities throughout Northern Ireland and undertake due diligence /risk appraisal to assess their suitability for investment.
  • Keep abreast of key areas of housing need/demand for all tenures throughout NI.
  • Build a network of effective contacts including Estate Agents, Property Developers, Planners, Contractors and Consultants and use this network to identify new areas of business.
  • Actively contribute to the preparation and submission of the annual bid for the sector wide Social Housing Development Programme.
  • Manage professional consultants and facilitate design team meetings as required to ensure the efficient delivery of schemes and ensure all required actions are closed down.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A degree level qualification AND 1 year’s recent experience (within last 7 years and can include a Placement year) in either of the following fields, i.e. a property / housing / construction / project management environment.
  • OR 5 years recent experience (within last 7 years) in either of the following fields; property / housing / construction / project management / architectural environment.
  • An understanding of the building/development process.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders (internal and external), both in person and via written correspondence managing challenging discussions when required.
  • Ability to work outside office hours including weekends and evenings and to respond to out-of-hours emergencies when required.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post without reliance on public transport.
