Job description

The candidate will be required to help to deliver a high-quality educational service based on the six areas of learning as recommended by the Department of Education, provide quality care, ensure children’s safety and help provide a stimulating and fun play environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing suitable activities for the key child.
• Follow the plan in place, set up and help the key child take part in all the group’s activities.
• Be part of the playgroup team and support colleagues.
• Carry out regular observations on your assigned key child and make an assessment of the key child’s needs within the group as directed by the Playgroup Leader.
• Provide observations so that they can be included into the programme plan to extend the key child’s learning.
• Be aware of and adhere to Little Rascals Playgroup Policies and Procedures and to follow all Codes of Practice for Staff.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• 1 years’ experience in a PEAG setting, a school/nursery setting.
• NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent).

Desirable Skills

• NVQ Level 5 in Childcare.
• Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
• Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Child Safeguarding Certificate.
• Competent in computer skills.
