Senior Development Officer


Job description

Help create the homes and communities of the future. Working as part of our ambitious Development team, you'll support the delivery of high-quality housing projects by building strong relationships with contractors, developers and colleagues. It's a varied and rewarding role where you'll contribute to projects that change lives while developing your knowledge, skills and career.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake site visits and carry out site appraisals / feasibility studies to understand and quantify site specific risks.
  • Complete/check TCI calculations and work with the Development Team to prepare accurate Financial Projections/investment appraisals to aid the appropriate decision making in bringing forward new opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to the team and support staff ensuring professional development through the appraisal process to achieve personal and team objectives.
  • To have bi-monthly one-to-one updates with team members to review performance against targets, workload, blockages, training needs, new ideas, personal development etc. To follow up on any actions as appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A third level qualification in a property/construction related subject AND 3 years recent experience in a property/construction environment (within the last 8 years) OR 5 years recent experience in a property/construction related environment).
  • Practical experience of managing Professional Consultants in accordance with their appointed scope of services.
  • Practical experience of managing a project from inception to completion, demonstrated by way of examples on application form.
  • At least 1 years’ experience of managing/mentoring staff including setting/monitoring targets and performance managing staff to ensure the team operates effectively and remains highly motivated.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post without reliance on public transport.
  • Ability to work outside office hours including weekends and evenings and to respond to out-of-hours emergencies when required.

Desirable Skills

  • A relevant professional qualification/post graduate qualification in a construction/ Housing/ project management would be desirable.
  • Previous experience in a social housing environment.
