As the Street Works Coordinator, you will have a significant impact on Phoenix Energy's operations. Your role in coordinating and managing our street works activities associated with asset maintenance, new connections, and network development projects is crucial in ensuring compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all street works noticing from raising, closing and registering within required time frames and deadlines using Symology.
- Responsible for submitting and coordinating all street works permit applications, including diversion routes and traffic management, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Ensuring all systems are updated correctly within SLA’s and all KPIs are achieved.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with Statutory Functions Officers (SFOs) within the Department of Infrastructure, utility companies, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee the coordination of street works activities with internal departments and our construction partners.
- Lead and line manage the Customer Advisor within the Street Works team, including performance management, regular one-to-ones, absence management, and development planning.
- Optimise noticing and permit processes, enhance response efficiency, minimise risks, and maintain the highest standards of service delivery in line with public safety and statutory obligations.
- Support the transition from Symology to Aurora as part of the DfI-led replacement programme going live from Q4 2026, including participation in User Acceptance Testing, training, and post go-live embedding.
- Work flexibly across other areas of Customer Services, providing cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
- Ensure appropriate cover is arranged for street works noticing and permit applications during periods of absence.
- Champion vulnerability awareness in the planning and communication of street works, ensuring works are scheduled and communicated in a way that identifies and supports customers requiring additional assistance, in line with BSI ISO 22458.
- Perform general administrative duties related to street works coordination.
- Oversee the production of internal management reports on street works performance.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new procedures and processes associated with street works.
- Assist in the training and developing colleagues within Customer Services.
- Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Phoenix’s corporate objectives.
- Observe and comply with policies and procedures for Health and Safety at Work and observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.
- Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C or above including Maths and English.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in coordinating street works using Symology and applying for permits via the DFI Permit Application System.
- Sound working knowledge of the legislative framework governing street works in Northern Ireland.
Desirable Skills
- Possession of relevant street works or traffic management qualification.
- Knowledge and experience working in utilities, and particularly the energy sector.
- Relevant experience working within a planning and scheduling team.
- Working knowledge of Aurora (or equivalent street works case management system), reflecting the planned replacement of Symology from Q4 2026.
