Job description

The main duties of the post holders will be to safely transport the duty Doctor or Nurse to home visits within the area. You will be responsible for checking your vehicle and equipment on each session, to log all call details and report faults, communicate with the Central Call Centre using radio or car phone. Responsibilities

  • Drive safely in accordance with the rules set out in the Highway Code.
  • To carry out a written checklist of your vehicle and ensure all faults are logged by email.
  • Maintaining the security of the vehicle at all times including the environs of the base.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Experience of recording written information accurately.
  • Computer key board skills, which will be assessed by an aptitude test as part of the interview process.
  • Three years’ experience of driving on the local road network within the past five years in an employed or voluntary role.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of local geography / transport routes.
  • Experience of vehicle maintenance or vehicle equipment checks.

Further Information

Location: Driver as and when required for GP Out of Hours Service based at Altnagelvin Hospital. Work Time: The hours of operation are: Weekdays from 6pm until 12 midnight, midnight until 8:30am; Weekends and Bank Holidays 24 hr operation.
