Job description

Driver (as and when required) for GP Out of Hours Service at South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen. The main duties of the post holders will be to safely transport the duty Doctor or Nurse to home visits within the area. You will be responsible for checking your vehicle and equipment on each session, to log all call details, report faults and communicate with the central Call Centre using radio or car phone. Responsibilities

• Drive safely in accordance with the rules set out in the Highway Code.
• Carry out a written checklist of your vehicle and ensure all faults are logged by email.
• Maintaining the security of the vehicle at all times including the environs of the base.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Three years’ experience of driving on the local road network within the past five years in an employed or voluntary role.
• Experience of recording written information accurately.
• Computer keyboard skills, which will be assessed by an aptitude test as part of the interview process.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of local geography / transport routes.
• Experience of vehicle maintenance or vehicle equipment checks.

Further Information

The hours of operation are: Weekdays from 6.00pm - 12 midnight and 12 midnight until 8:30am. Weekends and bank holidays 24 hour operation. Please note that this vacancy will close at 12pm on Friday 18th September 2026.
