Job description

Glenbank Community Association is seeking a Project Assistant to join our busy team at Glenbank Community Centre. The successful applicant will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the Centre and helping ensure our programmes and services run smoothly. A key element of the post will be supporting Glenbank Play Services, helping to provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive and stimulating environment for children. The post holder will assist with play activities, daily routines, preparation of the play environment and engagement with parents and carers.

Responsibilities

  • Support Play Services, parents and community programmes
  • Work closely with and support the Youth Development Worker in the delivery and coordination of Glenbank's wider programme of activities.
  • This includes our Play Services, After Schools, Kids Club, youth provision, girls' group, women's activities, SEN provision, family activities, community drop-ins, educational programmes and community events.
  • Support Glenbank's engagement with community organisations, statutory agencies, local partnerships, will include assisting with partnership meetings, community engagement through structures such as Ballysillan, Upper Ardoyne Community Partnership.
  • Maintain records and help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Glenbank Community Centre.
  • Will be expected to be flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the organisation.
  • This may include helping prepare rooms and resources, supporting activities and events, maintaining attendance and programme records, communicating with participants, assisting volunteers and helping with general administration.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience supporting children, families or community activities.
  • Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to work in a busy community setting.

Desirable Skills

  • Childcare, youth work or community development qualification.
  • Experience in a play, youth or community setting. First Aid and safeguarding training.
  • Experience supporting families, SEN provision, community events or partnership working.
