Job description

We are recruiting a Youth Development Worker / Centre Coordinator to take a leading role in developing and delivering youth provision while supporting the effective day-to-day running of Glenbank Community Centre. The successful applicant will work directly with young people, developing and delivering programmes that promote personal development, confidence, wellbeing, social and life skills and positive community involvement. They will build strong relationships with young people and provide support, guidance and opportunities for participation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead youth development and support the coordination of Glenbank. Deliver engaging programmes for young people while overseeing centre activities, administration, funding, events, partnership working to help Glenbank’s busy services run effectively.
  • Help oversee the Centre's busy programme of activities and events, manage bookings and schedules, support staff and volunteers and ensure the Centre provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Responsibility for administration, funding applications, monitoring and evaluation, budgeting, expenditure tracking and reporting to the Chairperson.
  • Help identify funding opportunities and support the continued development and sustainability of Glenbank's services.
  • Work with schools, families, community organisations, statutory agencies and other partners, as well as representing Glenbank at relevant community and neighbourhood partnership meetings.
  • Contribute to community events, programme development, safeguarding, risk assessments, health and safety and the wider operational needs of Glenbank Community Centre.
  • maintain records and help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Glenbank.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Two years’ experience working with young people in a youth or community setting.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating activities, writing funding applications, managing budgets and working with partners.
  • Flexibility is essential, with evening and weekend work required as part of the role.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience coordinating a community facility.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, Microsoft Office and social media.
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluation, volunteer coordination and partnership working.
