Job description

The Deputy will work closely with the Playgroup Leader to ensure the provision of a welcoming, secure, and stimulating Preschool environment for the children. As Deputy you will be responsible for the running of the setting in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare and fully set out the playroom appropriately before the sessions commences and is tidied up after the session ends.
• Help provide and take part in all the group’s activities.
• Carry out regular observations and make an assessment of each child’s needs within the group as directed by the Playgroup Leader.
• Attend and participate in all staff meetings and assist in curriculum planning.
• Encourage the active participation of all parents by seeking their involvement in their children’s learning.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• QCF Level 5 Diploma in Child Care, Learning and Development or Playwork; or a relevant equivalent qualification in early years education (or working towards) and 2 years experience working with children aged 3-5 years.
