Arts Development Officer
Job description
Assist the Arts and Culture Manager in identifying, developing and managing Arts Development and Participatory Arts initiatives in accordance with Council’s Corporate and Community Planning outcomes Enhance and develop productive stakeholder relationships to inform community planning and to further the Council’s Arts & Culture related strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support the Arts and Culture Manager on all aspects of service delivery ensuring the provision and delivery of high quality and cost-effective services.
- Assist with the development and delivery of the Arts and Culture Strategy for Derry City and Strabane District Council as well as the development and implementation of arts development activities to support arts and cultural services.
- Coordinate relevant arts and culture networking and programming activities.
- Identify and exploit external funding opportunities to support the delivery of the Arts and Culture Strategy and Arts Development activities.
- Ensure that risks to programme delivery are identified and managed and there is probity throughout all aspects of programme management.
- Assist the Arts and Culture Manager in the organisation of events, the undertaking of promotional activities to support the delivery of the arts and culture service as well as the care and upkeep of the public artwork portfolio.
- Assist the Arts and Culture Manager in the procurement and management of support services including consultants, contractors and the service providers in accordance with procedures.
- Work closely with other Councils departments including the Festivals and Events team in the delivery of programming activity and the Marketing and Communications team to promote the activities of the service.
- Deputise in the absence of the Arts and Culture Manager as and when required.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of reports to Council Committees and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation.
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures.
- Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A degree or equivalent level of qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience within arts and culture and/or festivals and events in all of the following areas:
- Arts & cultural programming or development practice; Project development, delivery, appraisal, monitoring and evaluation; Managing resources and controlling budgets; Delivery of partnership projects and building rapport with a range of stakeholders.
- Competency in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Must have access to a form of transport to carry out the duties of the post.
