Shift Quality Technician


Job description

Our client, a leading company in the packaging and distribution of beers, wines and spirits, is seeking an experienced Shift Quality Technician to join their operations in East Belfast. The Quality Assurance Technician is an operational, factory-based role and an integral member of the shift team. The individual will be responsible for completing analytical and microbiological sampling, supporting quality investigations, ensuring compliance with quality systems, and acting as a key quality contact on shift.

Responsibilities

  • Food production, FMCG, bottling, canning, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated manufacturing environments
  • Quality Assurance principles and quality management systems
  • HACCP and Food Safety
  • Analytical testing, sampling plans, and quality documentation
  • Root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environments

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Third-level qualification in Food Technology or a related discipline
  • A-Level (or equivalent) science qualification plus a minimum of two years' relevant manufacturing/quality experience
  • A minimum of five years' relevant experience in a bottling, canning, food production, or similar manufacturing environment

Desirable Skills

  • Graduates in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related disciplines with around 1 year's relevant manufacturing or quality experience
  • Candidates with less overall experience who can demonstrate strong exposure to key areas such as Quality Assurance, food safety, analytical testing, sampling, HACCP, and regulated manufacturing environments

Further Information

Work Time: 7.30am to 7.30pm / 7.30pm to 7.30am 2 days / 2 nights, 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off. The successful candidate may initially work regular day shifts whilst completing training before moving onto the shift rota. Flexibility is essential, as there may also be requirements to work day shifts to support site projects and business priorities. Please note the weekly hours exceed the 48 plus hour Working Time Directive and the successful applicant may be required to sign an "opt-out" form.
