Job description
Greenvale is a small, welcoming residential home where 11 residents with intellectual disability and autism are supported to live as independently as possible in their own home. We are looking for a caring, reliable and well-organised Cook who takes pride in preparing fresh, nutritious, home-cooked meals. This is a rewarding opportunity to make mealtimes enjoyable, meaningful and person-centred for our residents. You will work independently in the kitchen, while being part of a supportive staff team and reporting to a Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- To plan and implement a menu for residents taking into account: - hygiene, nutrition, variety, personal preference, special diets.
- To maintain an efficient and cost effective system for ordering all goods, foods and vegetables necessary for the preparation and cooking of meals.
- To maintain the overall safety of the scheme in accordance with the Health and Safety policy. Specifically Health and Safety Hygiene for the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Observing correct use and care of all equipment.
- Ensure that kitchen supplies and cleaning materials are well stocked and stored safely through liaison with the manager or authorised person.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- To be willing to work various shifts including weekends.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience of maintaining Health and Safety and Hygiene Standards.
- Proven ability to work independently to undertake a range of routine tasks.
- Proven ability of planning and preparing menus and be able to order accordingly to meet the needs of the clients.
