Area Manager


Job description

To provide the highest possible standards of support to Service Users. To develop current Services in line with appropriate Government local and regional strategies, to identify new opportunities for growth and to secure commissioning arrangements for these services. Efficiently manage budget and voids. Within that context he/she will be expected to work autonomously and with initiative. The Area Manager will act as the registered manager for the service ensuring compliance with RQIA regulations and minimum standards.

Responsibilities

  • To support staff to ensure that they develop & maintain a trusting & professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive & empathetic manner towards them.
  • To provide guidance and training for Staff, Service Users and Volunteers, on the benefits of Service User involvement.
  • To ensure that Service Users have access to opportunities for involvement in a range of activities both on a Scheme basis and outside of individual Schemes.
  • To ensure that all Staff, Service Users and Volunteers are familiar with and can put into practice the principles of personalisation.
  • To engage in discussion with Service Users to explain and gain feedback on Inspire Strategy.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Willingness to work flexible hours required for the job to include evening and weekend work.
  • Possess a full current driving licence and access to a car. Business insurance will be a requirement for this post. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence.
  • Professional Social Work qualification and registered on the appropriate part of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) register, without condition.
  • OR a first level register nurse on the appropriate part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
  • OR a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with BAOT.
  • AND a minimum of 4 years’ experience of working in a health care or social care setting, providing services to people with a learning disability. At least 2 years of this experience must be in a relevant operational management capacity.
  • OR A QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Adults Management) Wales and Northern Ireland and be registered or eligible for registration on appointment on the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) register.
  • AND a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a health care or social care setting, providing services to people with a learning disability. At least 2 years of this experience must be in a relevant operational management capacity.
  • Experience of using Microsoft packages to include Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
