As the Low Carbon Heating Analyst, you will support the delivery of Phoenix Energy’s low carbon heat workstreams including hybrid heat pump trials and energy efficiency interventions in collaboration with partner organisations. Your primary responsibility will be to support the delivery of the large-scale (100 plus homes) NI Hybrid Heat Pump Programme. This will include managing, collating, and analysing the large volumes of data developed from hybrid heat pump monitoring systems. You will also have responsibility for drafting regular, high quality, performance reports for internal and external stakeholders. You will, through analysis, structured reading/research and bespoke training will develop advanced knowledge on live departmental projects and will regularly prepare briefs for senior managers and directors to inform internal decision making. The role will also involve supporting colleagues to monitor net-zero policy developments and relevant NI Assembly activity, progress relevant research projects, respond to government consultations, engage with external stakeholders, advance demonstration projects & trials, explore new green growth opportunities, and supporting the development & delivery of network decarbonisation strategy. Suitable for recent graduates with limited experience, this role presents an opportunity to gain significant experience of the practical and policy issues surrounding low carbon heat while supporting the delivery of a key workstream for the NI gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Regularly reviewing the monitoring data from the Hybrid Heat Pump Programme to identify issues as they arise and prepare regular updates for key internal and external stakeholders including the Department for the Economy and the Utility Regulator
• Undertaking in-depth analysis of the performance of the installed hybrid heat pumps to support the drafting of detailed operational reporting and facilitating the independent review of the results by an independent academic evaluator
• Supporting the presentation of Hybrid Heat Pump Programme results to internal and external stakeholders
• Engaging with, and challenging, operational and strategic energy transition colleagues and provide research driven and analytical informed perspectives on the issues, challenges, and opportunities relevant to advancing low carbon heat goals
• Monitor low carbon heat related public policy developments in Northern Ireland, Ireland, the UK and across Europe to develop insights that empower the business to act decisively in a rapidly changing industry.
• Regular participation in multidisciplinary collaborative forums, featuring internal and external partners to progress the successful delivery of low carbon heat workstreams including joint academic/industry research projects.
• Contribute to the commercial decision making: for example, supporting new low carbon heat business development concepts, performing market research to support proposal development
• Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Phoenix’s corporate objectives.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Educated to degree level.
• One years’ experience working in either a research role, an economist role, a regulatory role, an analyst role, a government policy/public affairs role or equivalent.
• Qualitative & analytical skills, along with the ability to communicate complex analysis.
• Demonstratable experience delivering succinct, structured, written briefings.
• Ability to work under own initiative.
• Organisational and problem-solving skills.
