We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CAD Design Engineer to join the growing production engineering team of a highly regarded, specialist sign manufacturer based in Derry Londonderry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business with an outstanding portfolio of clients across the UK and Ireland, renowned for delivering high-quality, bespoke signage solutions and maintaining an excellent reputation within the industry. As a CAD Design Engineer, you will work at the interface between the design and manufacturing teams, taking creative concepts and developing them into practical, detailed designs ready for in-house manufacture. The role will suit a technically strong and creative engineer who enjoys problem solving, bespoke design and seeing projects progress from concept through to fabrication and installation. SolidWorks expertise is essential. Experience within signage or a similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous, although it is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Creating high-quality production drawings for the company's in-house manufacturing facility.
• Designing frameworks, structures and panelling for a wide range of large and small-scale signage projects.
• Developing detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and technical drawings using SolidWorks and other relevant CAD software.
• Translating creative concepts and client requirements into practical, manufacturable designs.
• Working closely with the design, project management and manufacturing teams throughout the design and production process.
• Maintaining accurate project documentation, including design files, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), etc.
• Providing technical support and design expertise during manufacturing and installation phases.
• Assisting with the development of prototypes, samples and bespoke solutions for client approval.
• Ensuring designs meet relevant industry standards, client specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to identify and implement workflow and process improvements.
• Supporting the continuous development of the company's design and manufacturing capabilities.
• Using creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions for novel and bespoke signage requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• We are looking for a technically capable and creative CAD professional who takes pride in producing high-quality work.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a CAD Design Engineer, Design Engineer or similar role, preferably within engineering, manufacturing or signage.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in SolidWorks and experience with AutoCAD is essential.
• Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products
• A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and fabrication techniques.
• The ability to interpret design concepts and develop them into practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Experience detailing assemblies and coordination with building facades.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to design.
• Strong creative problem-solving and design skills.
• The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Communication skills and the ability to work closely with designers, engineers, project managers and manufacturing colleagues.

Desirable Skills

• Experience within the signage industry would be a significant advantage, but candidates with strong CAD and manufacturing experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
