The post holder will be responsible for the leadership, planning and management of services across a portfolio of primary care nursing services delivered by nurses employed by the Federation. As a member of the senior team, the post holder will lead on the shaping of the strategic direction for the services and ensure its implementation within defined timescales. As the Federation’s Lead Nurse the postholder will hold the principle responsibility of professional leadership and governance. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the Federation’s corporate governance arrangements and processes.
Responsibilities
- Assesses on a regular basis nursing workforce trends and developments within the profession to inform the work of the Federation and to provide sound professional advice.
- Lead on work to design improvements in the nursing service within the Federation
- Work with others to support the continuous improvement of nursing services, transforming service delivery in terms of patient experience, quality, performance and value for money within available resources.
- Work with the relevant Federation Support Team colleagues and the Operations Manager by providing the nursing professional input in the preparation business cases to enhance the nursing contribution to services.
- Work closely with the Lead GP for Advanced Nurse Practitioners to ensure leasing monies are utilised effectively, that the Board is kept abreast of any significant changes that may bring risk to the Federation and work within the funding to grow.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered Nurse, live on NMC register Part 1.
- Three years’ experience in the last 5 years at Band 8a or above in a health care environment which included - responsibility for the operational and professional leadership of a healthcare team.
- Responsible for budget management and financial accountability for the team,
- Leading clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience of working in health care services in a management role
- knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures for health care staff with particular reference to ANPs understanding of the role of General Practice and Community Services
- Demonstrate experience of working with a range of diverse stakeholders demonstrating effective management and skills required to operate effectively in a complex health environments.
- Demonstrate experience of inspirational management and leadership skills and experience in delivering a clear sense of purpose and direction.
- Demonstrate experience in transforming services, excellent people management skills and have effective partnership working, integrity and sound ethical judgement.
- Demonstrate experience and ability in managing incidents complaints, investigations and implementation of learning within the team and wider as appropriate
