As a Project Support Worker, you will provide on-site support to homeless single adults with multi-complex needs across QQH services. This role involves actively assisting, encouraging and supporting Service Users in promoting their wellbeing, independence, safety and positive life choices, including crisis intervention and practical day-today support. As part of QQH’s continued growth and development, successful candidates may also have the opportunity to support our new women-only accommodation service, Phoenix House. This trauma-informed service has been designed to provide safe and supportive accommodation for women experiencing homelessness and complex needs, including domestic abuse, exploitation, trauma and other gender-specific vulnerabilities. Within Phoenix House, Project Support Workers will work closely alongside Case Support Workers to provide consistent, person-centred and trauma-informed support within a high-tolerance environment. This may include daily engagement, relationship building, crisis response, practical assistance and contributing to the development, monitoring and implementation of support plans aimed at helping women build confidence, stability and independence. Across all QQH services, Project Support Workers play a vital role in creating supportive environments where Service Users feel respected, safe and empowered to move towards healthier and more independent futures.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day practical and emotional support to Service Users, promoting independence, wellbeing and positive life choices.
- Support the implementation of individual support plans and respond appropriately to changing needs and crisis situations.
- Support Service Users with their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
- Provide advice and support around personal safety, security and positive risk management.
- Advocate for Service Users and support engagement with community services, activities and opportunities.
- Assist with referrals, admissions and out-of-hours/crash accommodation services.
- Encourage and support Service Users with Service Charge payments and other practical responsibilities.
- Complete and accurately record welfare, fire, health and safety checks, including inspections and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor access to QQH properties and contribute to maintaining a safe, secure and supportive environment.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Provide relevant Right to Work in the UK documentation (proof will be required).
- Completion of a satisfactory Enhanced AccessNI check.
- Possess a high level of interpersonal skills.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess IT skills. (i.e. experience of Office programmes, particularly Outlook & Word).
- Have good organisational and timekeeping skills.
- Demonstrate willingness to train and develop as required.
- Have the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Two years’ experience of working or voluntary work within a similar or equivalent challenging environment.
- (Phoenix House): Experience supporting women with complex needs, trauma, domestic abuse, or exploitation.
- Qualification in Health & Social Care, Psychology, or similar, or working towards the same.
- Experience of dealing with people from diverse backgrounds, including those whose first language is not English
