Job description

Plan, lead and deliver a well-balanced and co-ordinated coaching / activity session to meet the purpose of the Council’s Sports Development’s requirements.

Responsibilities

• Encourage a professional, friendly atmosphere for all participants, ensuring they are properly guided and supervised while taking part in any activity and working cooperatively with colleagues to ensure excellent Service Delivery.
• Ensure sessions reflect progressive development in line with the Sports Development Framework.
• Work within and promote the policies of the Council, National Governing Body of Sport in line with industry standards including Sport Equality and Coaches Code of Conduct.
• Ensuring the Council’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures are adhered to by carrying out pre-activity Health and Safety checks to ensure that the venue, equipment and activity are safe and free of hazards.
• Ensure that all administration is completed in a timely manner, including records of attendance, end of programme evaluation forms and where applicable accidents / incidents report forms in line with operational and Council requirements.
• Responsible for the Health and Safety of the session participants and be familiar with the emergency and First Aid procedures and communicate these to.
• Seek information on the specific needs of each individual participant in order to tailor programmes and activities to suit.
• Comply with and promote Council’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedures by recording and reporting all cases of disclosure/ suspicion of child abuse to the designated Officer.
• Undertake relevant training, as required by Sports Development manager and keep up to date cdp sports specific training in kept in date
• Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviours which reflect the core values of the organisation.
• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.
• Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Hold a current recognised Sports and Physical Activity coaching qualification, which allows you to coach independently, for example: (this list is not exhaustive) Football, Walking Leader, Circuits.
• One year’s demonstrable experience in delivering coaching and physical activity sessions.
• Must possess a current (in date) recognised First Aid Qualification.
• Must hold a valid safeguarding qualification.
• Knowledge and application of Health and Safety practices.

Further Information

Salary: Coaching Rate - £20 per hour. Training and inductions will be paid at Scale 3 SCP 7 - £13.68 per hour.
