Assistant Support Services Manager - RGH Portering


Job description

The Assistant Support Services Manager will support the Support Services Manager in the efficient implementation of agreed strategic and operational issues within areas that include Catering, Environmental Cleanliness, Laundry and Logistic Services (Car Parking, Portering, Security, Transport and Waste). The Assistant Support Services Manager will provide technical and/or specialist advice in respect of their span of control. The Assistant Support Services Manager will be responsible and accountable for the planning, coordination and delivery of high quality services and ensure high standards of performance through the setting of targets, monitoring and review of practices, processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Support Services Manager in the professional delivery of Support Services for the Trust.
  • To set and agree team objectives to deliver high quality standards of services reflective of 1. regulatory standards, 2. legislative requirements, 3. codes of practice, 3. technical guidance applicable to Support Services and/or other examples.
  • To contribute to the business planning process, at an appropriate level, within Patient & Client Support Services and in collaboration with the Directorate’s Planning Performance and Innovation function

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A relevant University Degree or equivalent/higher qualification or recognised professional qualification which is hospitality and/or management related AND a minimum of 1 years’ recent relevant experience in paid employment.
  • (cont) a minimum of 1 years’ recent relevant experience in paid employment working in a role involving ancillary support services in a complex organisation1 at supervisory and/or first line management level (Band 3 or above2).
  • (cont) OR HNC / HND or equivalent/higher qualification which is hospitality and/or management related AND a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in paid employment working in a role involving relevant ancillary support services in a complex organisa
  • (cont) OR A minimum of 4 years’ recent experience in paid employment working in a role involving relevant ancillary support services in a complex organisation1 at supervisory or first line management level (Band 3 or above2).
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the specific legislative and/or the technical requirements of the ancillary support service post applied
  • Demonstrable evidence of effective planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Demonstrate effective communications skills to meet the needs of the post
  • Demonstrable evidence of ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a Team whilst using own initiative
  • Evidence of budgetary management skills including both pay and non-pay expenditure
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or equivalent.
  • Access to a means of transport that meets the requirements of the post.3

Desirable Skills

  • Risk management qualification IOSH or above.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Catering & Environmental Cleanliness Services
  • COTC level 2 qualification in Waste Management or above
  • Manager Certificate of Professional Competence for National Freight and Passenger Transport
