HGV Class 2 Driver


Job description

Industrial Temps are proud to be working in partnership with Royal Mail, the UK's designated Universal Postal Service Provider, to recruit HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers based at their busy Newtownabbey Distribution Centre. We are particularly looking for HGV Class 2 Drivers who are available for night shifts, back shifts and weekend work. As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you'll play a key role in the Royal Mail network by trunking parcels and mail between depots nationwide. With minimal manual handling, no multi-drop deliveries and shifts allocated a week in advance, this is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for regular, ongoing work outside traditional daytime hours.

Responsibilities

  • Driving HGV Class 2 vehicles within the Royal Mail fleet.
  • Trunking parcels and mail between depots nationwide.
  • Completing straightforward depot-to-depot deliveries with no multi-drop work.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism at all times.
  • Ensuring compliance with Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours regulations.
  • Carrying out required vehicle checks.
  • Completing digital tachograph entries accurately.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence, held for at least 1 year.
  • Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card with recorded data.
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points.
  • No DD / DR / IN / CD / TT endorsements.
  • Good geographical knowledge and strong professional standards.
  • Ability to carry out manual entries on a digital tachograph.
  • Willingness to complete a DBS security check.
  • Successful completion of a site assessment and induction before your first shift.

Desirable Skills

  • Availability for night shifts and/or weekend work is highly desirable.
