HGV Class 2 Driver
Job description
Industrial Temps are proud to be working in partnership with Royal Mail, the UK's designated Universal Postal Service Provider, to recruit HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers based at their busy Newtownabbey Distribution Centre. We are particularly looking for HGV Class 2 Drivers who are available for night shifts, back shifts and weekend work. As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you'll play a key role in the Royal Mail network by trunking parcels and mail between depots nationwide. With minimal manual handling, no multi-drop deliveries and shifts allocated a week in advance, this is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for regular, ongoing work outside traditional daytime hours.
Responsibilities
- Driving HGV Class 2 vehicles within the Royal Mail fleet.
- Trunking parcels and mail between depots nationwide.
- Completing straightforward depot-to-depot deliveries with no multi-drop work.
- Maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours regulations.
- Carrying out required vehicle checks.
- Completing digital tachograph entries accurately.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence, held for at least 1 year.
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card with recorded data.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points.
- No DD / DR / IN / CD / TT endorsements.
- Good geographical knowledge and strong professional standards.
- Ability to carry out manual entries on a digital tachograph.
- Willingness to complete a DBS security check.
- Successful completion of a site assessment and induction before your first shift.
Desirable Skills
- Availability for night shifts and/or weekend work is highly desirable.
