Job description

We are seeking part-time compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. Minimum 10 hour per week contract available.  The Support Worker works as part of a team providing services to vulnerable individuals (including frail elderly, those with physical and learning disabilities and mental health) and their carer. The worker may provide personal care and low level care tasks to the individual needs of the client assessed by the appropriate professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and low level care tasks to the individual needs of the client assessed by the appropriate professionals as follows.
• Befriending service
• Chaperone
• Assisted shopping and small home maintenance jobs

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A full, valid driving licence
• Access to a car or a form of transport for work purposes

Desirable Skills

• 6 months experience in a formal care setting
• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent
• NISCC registered
• Knowledge of Domiciliary Care Minimum Standards

Further Information

Work time: The Support Worker will work Monday - Friday with hours varying between 9am and 6pm and will work as and when required between those times. Hours to be further discussed during interview. Successful applicants must be willing to carry out Access NI check and register with Northern Ireland Social Care Council. Access NI Code of Practice is available from www.nidirect.gov.uk/publications/accessni-code-practice. Access NI Privacy policy is available from www.justice-ni.gov.uk/publications/ani-privacy. Having a criminal conviction will not necessarily prohibit you from working with Strabane & District Caring Services. This will depend on the information provided and obtained from disclosure certificate, as well as the position applied for. This position falls within the exceptions set out in Article 10(2)(b) of the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 (as amended). Due to the genuine occupational qualification for this position, there may be a limited number of positions available for male applicants at this time. Applicants must be fully flexible.
