Job description

Brooke House Health & Well-Being Centre leads the Northern Ireland VALOUR Network, a region-wide partnership supporting veterans, serving personnel and Armed Forces families. This role provides specialist housing, homelessness and employment support to veterans and the wider Armed Forces community, working as part of a roving team delivering support directly in local communities across all six counties.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, advocacy and casework support around housing, homelessness and welfare
• Support beneficiaries into employment, education and enterprise, working alongside the Career Transition Partnership
• Deliver regional "roving" clinics across the Network's six Partner Spoke locations
• Manage a caseload and maintain accurate records using the Lamplight CRM
• Build strong referral relationships with statutory, voluntary and community organisations

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A relevant qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience, in housing, homelessness, welfare, employment or employability support, advice services, community development, social care or a related field
• Demonstrable experience of providing advice, advocacy, casework or practical support to individuals with complex or interconnected needs.
• Experience of assessing individual needs, developing support or action plans and managing a caseload with accurate case records.
• Good working knowledge of housing, homelessness and welfare-support pathways, together with employment, education, training or employability pathways
• Ability to help individuals navigate complex services, advocate appropriately and promote independence and informed choice.
• Experience of effective partnership working with statutory, voluntary, community or other support organisations

Desirable Skills

• Experience of working with veterans, serving personnel, Armed Forces families or another client group facing comparable transition or access barriers
• Detailed knowledge or experience of the Northern Ireland housing system, homelessness prevention or housing advocacy
• Experience of employment, careers, education, employability, enterprise or self-employment support
• Experience of multi-agency case management and/or knowledge of trauma-informed practice when supporting people with multiple or complex needs.

Further Information

Location: Flexible across Northern Ireland, with travel required Reports to: VALOUR Manager Contract: This is a funded, fixed-term post to 31 March 2029. Any continuation beyond this date will be subject to future funding and organisational requirements and cannot be guaranteed. This post is advertised on a full-time basis. Applications for part-time working (for example, 0.8 FTE / 30 hours per week) will also be considered, on a pro-rata basis.
