Job description

Preparing nutritious, homely meals tailored to the needs of our residents. Supporting menu planning and contributing ideas for varied, enjoyable dishes. Completing essential compliance and food safety checks. Helping us maintain a welcoming, well run kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan all menus, taking into account residents’ specific dietary requirements and their individual requests and to liaise with the Home Manager to agree menus.
  • Maintain sufficient stock and operate within the budget, ensuring minimum waste and efficient use of stock.
  • Ensure the kitchen area is clean and tidy and complies with health and safety regulations, food hygiene and other legal requirements.
  • Report any apparent hazards and risks to health and safety of residents, staff or visitors.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Able to verbally communicate in the English Language with the client group.

Desirable Skills

  • NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Catering & Hospitality, or an equivalent catering/kitchen related qualification.
  • Be able to show some knowledge of the diets of older people / menu planning.

Further Information

Various contracts available from 12 - 37 hours £13.45 per hour.
