Job description

Housing Rights is seeking a skilled and committed Housing Advice Development Partner on a full time, fixed term basis (until 31 March 2028) to support the delivery of the Community Housing Advice Project (CHAP). This is an opportunity to use your specialist housing advice knowledge to strengthen the capacity of partner agencies and improve outcomes for people experiencing housing problems and homelessness in Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Providing specialist housing advice, advocacy, representation and casework support to partner agencies
• Identifying training and information needs across partner agencies and developing appropriate materials and resources
• Designing, promoting and delivering housing advice training, workshops and presentations
• Building effective relationships with partner organisations, stakeholders and relevant strategic groups
• Maintaining accurate records, contributing to project monitoring and evaluation

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C (or equivalent), to include English Language and Mathematics
• Evidence of a relevant qualification in a relevant discipline, for example, housing, law, or advice
• Evidence of relevant experience in identifying training needs
• At least two years full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience of providing advice to the public on social welfare issues, including housing advice
• At least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience gained in the development and delivery of training programmes
• Skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
• Knowledge of the voluntary sector and housing policy and practice in Northern Ireland
• Demonstrated ability to work within the framework of an equal opportunities policy
• Valid driving licence and access to a car or demonstrated mobility to meet the requirements of the post

Desirable Skills

• Evidence of having completed other accredited qualifications (e.g. housing, debt, social security benefits)
• Evidence of a relevant qualification in the development and delivery of training programmes
• Awareness of the main issues impacting the housing needs of people in Northern Ireland
• At least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience gained through effective contributions to external strategic groups and forums
• Skills in the use of computerised case management systems (e.g. Advice Pro)
• Commitment to the values of Housing Rights
