Human Resources Advisor

Riada is partnering with Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council to recruit a Human Resources Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive Public Sector organisation where you'll play a key role in supporting managers and employees across a wide range of HR activities.

Responsibilities

  • To provide first line advice and support to applicants, employees and managers, where appropriate, on HR queries and enquiries.
  • Represent the Human Resources section at departmental operational meetings advising/guiding supervisors answering queries and scheduling Human Resources activities for that department.
  • Undertake projects as allocated by the Human Resources Managers when appropriate gathering relevant information, preparing reports and making recommendations to improve service delivery and promote innovative developments for the section.
  • Attend meetings of Managers and individual employees in reviews of sickness or other absences.
  • Prepare referrals to Occupational Health.
  • Write and review job advertisements, job descriptions and personnel specifications as required.
  • Act as the Human Resources representative in investigations being carried out under the Council's disciplinary, grievance and harassment policies.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) level 3 qualified.
  • Consideration may be given to applicants who do not hold the above qualification but who can demonstrate using specific examples and a minimum of 4 years' experience a willingness to work toward to achieving the qualification.
  • 2 years’ HR experience in each of the following:
  • Providing first line advice and support to applicants, employees and managers on HR matters.
  • Experience in recruitment and selection procedures for staff.
  • Inputting information accurately, production of letters, reports and other documents.
  • In the absence of the CIPD qualification 4 years’ experience is required.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work on own initiative.
  • Good level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and at pace.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of computerised office systems.
  • Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out.

Further Information

About the role: £17.45 per hour. Location: Antrim Civic Centre. Monday to Friday. Duration: Up to 27th June 2027 (pending review). 1 Day working from home following initial training period. Public Sector. Free car parking.
