DFC Work Experience - Support Role


Job description

This placement offers hands-on experience within a busy community day setting, providing participants with the opportunity to develop a range of transferable workplace skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for centre users and visitors.
  • Support staff with the preparation, serving, and clearing of lunches, refreshments, and snacks.
  • Develop communication skills through positive interaction with older people attending the centre.
  • Assist with the setup and delivery of activities, events, and social programmes.
  • Work alongside staff and volunteers to support the smooth daily operation of the centre.
  • Help with general housekeeping, organisation, and tidying of communal areas.
  • Observe and follow health and safety procedures and good hygiene practices.
  • Provide a friendly and professional level of customer service to centre users and visitors.
  • Gain experience of working within a caring, community-focused environment.
  • Build confidence, teamwork, time-management, and employability skills through practical workplace experience.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work with and support older people.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Desirable Skills

  • An interest in community work, health and social care, or customer service

Further Information

Employer - Older People North West This work experience opportunity is expected to last for 8 weeks and will require attendance of 25-30 hours/week. While on Work Experience, participants will retain their entitlement to benefit. Those who are not receiving benefit are also welcome to participate. Travel and childcare costs may be reimbursed. Participants will also receive an incentive payment equivalent to £10/day to a maximum of £50/week.
