Work under the direction of the playgroup leader/deputy leader regarding observations and planning activities. A brief overview of responsibilities is included below.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1-1 care, supervision, and assistance to the child throughout the playgroup session.
- Adapt play activities, communication styles, and learning tasks to match the individual developmental needs and targets outlined for the child.
- Encourage the child's independence, positive behavior, and active participation in group play and structured activities.
- Help facilitate social interaction and inclusion with other children in the playgroup setting.
- Work collaboratively with the child's parents to discuss progress, daily updates and observations on a regular basis.
- Intimate care - including changing (contact the playgroup for further information).
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- NCFE Level 3 Diploma in childcare, learning and development or play work (or equivalent).
- At least 2 years experience of working with children in an early years/day care setting.
- The ability to work as part of a team, under the direction of the playgroup leader
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working on a 1-1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs.
- Specific training/qualifications related to Special Educational Needs.
