Part-time Lecturer - Veterinary Nursing


Job description

Assess student needs, plan and prepare teaching and learning programmes for groups and individuals and manage the learning process within the classes you are assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out teaching duties for the appropriate subject in either the vocational or non-vocational areas.
  • Provide learners with support, develop and use a range of teaching and learning techniques and assess learning outcomes.
  • Draw up a scheme of work for the class at the beginning of the session and submit a copy to the Line Manager for approval.
  • Record in the appropriate place in the class register, or on a sheet provided for the purpose, a synopsis of the work completed at each class meeting.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 5 qualification in any discipline and at least a Level 3 qualification in the curriculum area of Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Medicine. The College may also consider applicants with only a Level 3 in the relevant area.
  • Have at least 3 years’ industrial, professional or teaching experience in the area of Veterinary Nursing.
  • Be currently registered as a Veterinary Nurse or Veterinary Surgeon with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or equivalency.

Desirable Skills

  • Have GCSE English (Grade C or above) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent.
  • Have GCSE Maths (Grade C or above) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent.
  • Have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification recognised for teaching in the Northern Ireland FE Sector Or Be currently registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI)

The College is currently seeking applications from interested individuals to join a Part-time Lecturers' Register to assess student needs, plan and prepare teaching and learning programmes for groups and individuals and manage the learning process within the classes you are assigned. If you are successful at interview, you will be placed on a panel and contacted if and when work becomes available. There is no guarantee of work however if work becomes available the hours of work will vary based on the demands of the College. Payment will be based on the hours worked at the rates of pay indicated below. Successful candidates may be required to work at any of the College's Campuses. Rates of Pay are based on the level of course taught, ie courses above National Certificate - £44.04; courses above the level of GCSE - £37.73; courses at GCSE or lower - £27.91.
