Job description
The HB Team Leader will be responsible for the day to day supervision and support of staff within front line operational teams within the HB units, and providing support for the HB management team, including provision of information and statistics, and involvement in policy development and training where required.
Responsibilities
- The HB Team Leader will support the Assistant Principal Officer, the HB Assistant Area Manager and the HB Area Manager in the day-to-day running of one of the HB Teams.
- To provide information and statistics to facilitate the management of the HB Area, including completion of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
- Controls and manage Discretionary Housing Payments.
- To investigate and reply to formal and informal letters, including complaints.
- To prepare appeal submissions.
- To take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and support of staff within the HB Area.
- To ensure quality standards and KPIs are in place for the team.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Possess a degree or equivalent level qualification (Level 6) AND one year’s relevant experience working within a Housing Benefit or other Social Security related benefit function OR
- Possess a BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma or equivalent level qualification (Level 5) AND can demonstrate at least 2 years’ relevant experience working within a Housing Benefit or other Social Security related benefit function OR
- Demonstrate at least three years’ relevant experience working within a Housing Benefit or other Social Security related benefit function AND demonstrate continued professional development including the attainment of relevant learning/qualifications.
