Job description
The Technical Officer plays an integral role within a local grants area office in the delivery of technical aspects of applications for a suite of funding schemes across the private housing sector. These schemes are aimed at improving housing standards, improving energy efficiency and reducing fuel poverty and enabling persons with a disability to live as independently as possible and to remain in their own home.
Responsibilities
- To consider the most satisfactory course of action in determining the type of grant and works to be carried out for Home Improvement and Energy Efficiency grants.
- To carry out a technical assessment of properties for which a grant application has been received.
- To prepare a costed List of Works specifying items to be grant aided in accordance with PSIS Technical Guidance.
- To gather relevant Pre Construction Health and Safety Information
- For Disabled Facilities Grants, to prepare a standard solution and scheme design to meet the requirements of the Occupational Therapist’s recommendation.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Possess a degree or an equivalent level qualification (Level 6) in Building Studies or other relevant construction related subject and can demonstrate 1 years relevant experience OR
- Possess a BTECH higher or equivalent level qualification (Level 5) in Building Studies or other relevant construction related subject and demonstrate and can demonstrate 2 years’ relevant experience OR
- Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development / experiential learning and can demonstrate at least 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
