BHSCT Human Resources Assistant Service Manager, Employee & Industrial Relations Band 8A


Job description

The post holder will support the Head of Service to oversee the Employee Relations Team and the management Of all cases in line with an open, just and learning approach. The post holder will support the development and implementation of a range of initiatives to support managers and staff in the effective management of employee relations cases. This will include the Trust Disciplinary, Grievance, Conflict Bullying and Harassment and Supporting Performance Improvement policies. The post holder will provide professional, senior and operational HR advice and guidance on complex Employee Relations matters/cases and will lead and empower a specialist team providing advice to Trust managers. The post holder will lead in the management and co-ordination Of all Industrial I Fair Employment Tribunal/High Court applications, ensuring compliance with associated processes and timescales. The post holder will act as a witness for the Trust where appropriate, and will liaise/consult with legal advisers and statutory agencies and stakeholders as required.

Responsibilities

  • To lead in the development and implementation of a proactive, efficient, effective, compassionate and customer focused Employee Relations service consistent with HSC Values and in support of the Trust vision and People & Culture Agenda.
  • To lead in the development Of a range Of proactive targeted approaches to address specific issues/areas of concern from an Employee Relations perspective.
  • TO ensure the provision Of professional Employee Relations advice and support to managers in line with Trust policies and procedures. Constructively challenge decisions which are not in the interest of the Trust or in line with HSC values.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have a University Degree OR Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development CIPD qualification and have attained CIPD membership at Chartered level or above AND;
  • Have worked for at least 3 years in a Human Resources Senior HR Management role in a major complex organisation OR;
  • Have worked for at least 5 years' in a Human Resources Senior HR Management role in a major complex organisation.
  • Have worked for a least 2 years in an Employee Relations Senior HR Management role.
  • Have at least two years' experience managing people.
  • You will expected to demonstrate on your application form how your experience is relevant to the posts to which you are applying in relation the following criteria.
  • Experience Of managing complex employee relations cases and demonstrate evidence of personal responsibility for achieving measurable improvements in service.
  • Delivery through best practice HR interventions.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities impacting on organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrate evidence of leading on significant change management projects and associated engagement/consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Employment Law.
