Events Co-Ordinator
Job description
The postholder will develop and deliver programme content to fulfil Councils festivals and events and be responsible for developing cost effective initiatives and integrated campaigns in line with Council’s Event Calendar.
Responsibilities
- Lead on the development and coordination of a number of Council’s core events.
- Develop, submit and manage funding applications in accordance with established procedures for events on behalf of Council including budget management, draw down and funding allocation as appropriate.
- Contribute to the sourcing and development of contract(s), artists and other relevant resources in the development and delivery of festivals and events.
- Develop programmes to establish a creative range of skills through community engagement and participation with an interagency approach.
- Engage with all communities, groups and relevant stakeholders within the Council area in relation to festival and events activities, to generate increased community participation and sense of ownership where inclusivity and sustainability.
- Monitor and evaluate projects and service delivery arrangements maintaining management systems and processes to ensure value for money and effective service delivery producing reports as required.

- Represent Council in media engagement i.e., radio, TV and press forums.
- Liaise with the Event Safety Officer to ensure that all event specific health and safety obligations are met.
- Prepare written and oral reports and presentations as necessary relating to projects to all stakeholders.
- Identify and manage an inventory of event related service providers for Festivals and Events use.
- Be aware of competing and/or complementary externally events and propose alternative options or tag along opportunities.
- Develop and lead a sub working group to ensure provisions of services are achieved.
- Develop cost effective festivals and events initiatives and integrated campaigns to generate increased participation and sustainability.
- Liaise with external suppliers to ensure that all events are scheduled and delivered on time.
- Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation.
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
- Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A minimum of a degree and/or a relevant professional qualification in a related subject eg., events, festivals etc.
- Applicants must demonstrate at least 2 years' demonstrable experience in the events industry: This must include managing/delivering large scale events (5000 attendees plus).
- Liaising with a range of stakeholders eg., emergency service providers, local businesses, community and/or volunteer organisations, managing budgets and resources.
- Securing funding/sponsorship, liaising with multiple suppliers and managing a build and break down schedule.
- Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and requirements and knowledge of production set ups and requirements.
Desirable Skills
- A qualification in Event Management.
