Job description

The Programme Co-Ordinator will be responsible for organising and promoting the identified health improvement initiatives at a local level. In particular, the Programme Co-Ordinator will be responsible for:- Undertaking work within the community to help promote health and well-being leading to health related improvements. Establishing links with existing agencies and networks and creating new networking opportunities, where appropriate

Responsibilities

  • To effectively plan and deliver, in conjunction with the Management Committee and other appropriate agencies responsible for health promotion/improvement, a range of health improvement initiatives that meets the needs of local residents.
  • To develop and implement a communication strategy to ensure that local residents are aware of and participate in the Programme.
  • To develop effective working relationships with other key organisations in the implementation of the identified initiatives.
  • To implement Neighbourhood Renewal Health Action Plan.
  • To represent the Forum at relevant health related events.
  • To provide a sign-posting service for local residents.
  • To develop and implement strategies for inclusion of specific target groups within the community, for example elderly, young people, women, minority groups etc.
  • To organise a range of health promotion events at a local level and inter-estates level.
  • To administer and manage the Programme budget and source any additional funding that may be required for the effective delivery of the Programme.
  • To effectively monitor and evaluate the Programme and identify an exit strategy.
  • To produce regular updating reports, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and critical assessments.
  • To provide an evaluation report each year along with recommendations for future actions and development.
  • To undertake training as required by the Devenish Partnership Forum.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Candidates must have a third level qualification.
  • 5 GSCE’s (C) or equivalent including Maths and English.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years paid experience of working with community based organisations for example in a community development or in a health/social care role.
  • Experience of working with community-based groups in developing, implementing and delivering health-related programmes.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of managing a funded project, monitoring and evaluation of that project and reporting to funders.
  • Experience of budgeting and budget control.
  • Computer Literature- working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, publisher and poster design.
  • Ability to travel in accordance with the needs of the post.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Available to work evenings and work weekends when required.
  • Flexibility in relation to working hours is essential.

Desirable Skills

  • First aid qualification.
  • Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Training.
  • Experience of making funding applications.
  • Experience of working in a health related field.
  • Experience of delivering training in a health related field.
