Job description

To provide maternity cover for a key role within a local enterprise centre as Business Development & Marketing Manager, with responsibility for the effective management, delivery and marketing of a range of programmes and services. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience and skills. 25 hours per week (with potential additional hours). Responsibilities

  • Organisation, management and delivery of business support for SMEs & micro-enterprises, enterprise support, economic development, marketing and promotional activities. Monitoring/Reporting of programmes to meet the requirements of funders & partners.
  • To provide maternity cover (fixed term) for a key role within a local enterprise centre as Business Development & Marketing Manager, with responsibility for the effective management, delivery and marketing of a range of programmes and services.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience and knowledge of SME/business support, enterprise support, business development, marketing & economic development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Competence in Microsoft Office & digital communication platforms.
  • A relevant third-level qualification (Level 5 or above) OR a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in SME environments, business development, enterprise support, economic development, marketing, training; to demonstrate necessary competence.
  • A third-level qualification (Level 5 or above) in Business, Enterprise Support, Economic Development, Marketing, Project Management or a related field, OR
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in SME environments, business development, enterprise support, economic development, marketing, training, education, stakeholder engagement or a related field which demonstrates an equivalent
  • level of knowledge and competence.
  • Minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Mathematics.
  • Organisation, management and delivery of business support for SMEs & micro-enterprises, enterprise support, economic development, marketing and promotional activities.
  • Management/monitoring/reporting of relevant programmes to meet the requirements of funders and partners.
  • Work with stakeholders, marketing/promotion and project management of stakeholder/networking events, particularly; businesses, social enterprises, community organisations, partners, stakeholders, participants, clients or other groups.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms.
  • Understanding of purpose-driven organisations, charity governance and managed workspace environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of tendering and bid writing. Understanding of financial management and budgeting. Experience developing training or workshop materials for SMEs/micro-enterprises/social enterprises. Experience of local government SLAs.
  • Understanding of financial management and budgeting.
  • Experience developing training or workshop materials for SMEs/micro-enterprises/social enterprises. Knowledge/experience of managing service level agreements for bodies such as local government.
  • Experience working on local & central government funded programmes, EU PEACE etc. Knowledge/experience of managed workspace environments.

Further Information

Availability to commence the role on either 1st November or 1st December 2026 is required. Maternity Cover & Fixed Term.
