Laboratory Service Administrator Band 5


Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and leadership of the Laboratory Administrative Team and associated support staff across Laboratory Services. Working closely with Laboratory Management, Clinical Leads, Biomedical Scientists, and operational teams, the post holder will ensure the efficient day-to-day administration and operational functioning of laboratory services. The post holder will manage administrative processes that support the delivery of safe, effective and timely laboratory services, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, accreditation standards, information governance requirements, and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the administrative functions supporting Laboratory Medicine services.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational issues relating to laboratory administration and support services.
  • Monitor workloads and allocate resources appropriately to ensure timely service delivery

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree or recognised professional qualification or equivalent/higher qualification in a business / management / administrative related field AND 1 years’ experience in an admin role within a clinical setting at Band 4 or above/equivalent
  • OR HNC/HND or equivalent in a business/management/administrative field or equivalent AND 2 years’ experience in an admin role within a clinical setting at Band 4 or above/equivalent
  • OR 4 years’ experience in an admin role within a clinical setting including at least 1 year at Band 4 or above/equivalent
  • Experience of supervising or management of staff, including performance management and staff development
  • Experience of managing competing priorities and delivering services within performance targets
  • Experience of data collection, analysis, and reporting/presenting to support service delivery.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approve

Desirable Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of working with computerised patient administration systems
