Job description

The Programmes and Services Coordinator will coordinate and deliver a high-quality programme of practical, emotional, and developmental support for families affected by a diagnosis of cancer. The post-holder will work closely with children, young people, parents, carers, and partner agencies to ensure that Hive Cancer Support’s programmes and services are responsive, accessible, and shaped by identified family need. The role combines direct service delivery with programme coordination, family engagement, partnership working, monitoring, and support for service development, helping Hive deliver a holistic and community-based model of support. The post-holder will oversee the planning, coordination, delivery, and review of programmes and services designed to support families affected by cancer through a range of interventions including workshops, structured group work, home visiting, outreach, and community-based sessions. The role will ensure that practical and emotional support is delivered in ways that are safe, responsive, and tailored to need, and that families are supported to access wider services where appropriate. A key part of the post is to maintain strong engagement with service users and partners, support the development of resources and programmes, and ensure that outcomes are well monitored, reported, and used to improve service quality.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a related field, with experience supporting families and coordinating services.
  • Communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred practice.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in home visiting, family support, group programmes, ideally supporting families affected by illness, bereavement or trauma.
  • Fundraising or funder experience is desirable.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive work vehicles required.
