Support Worker
Job description
We are seeking compassionate and motivated Support Workers to join our Intellectual Disabilities & Autism team. As a Support Worker at our Heathers service, you’ll be at the heart of that mission, providing hands-on care and emotional support to people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a trusting and professional relationship with the people who use our services and act in a supportive and empathetic manner towards them.
- Display compassion and sensitivity to the people who use our services’ and next of kin needs.
- Contribute towards a harmonious and therapeutic environment.
- Support the people who use our services to manage their physical health, mental health and wellbeing through the development and implementation of an individual support plan.
- Identifies problems and issues and work with the people who use our services to provide the most appropriate solutions to promote wellbeing for all.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- To be willing to work various shifts, which may include days, nights, evenings and weekends.
- Experience of supporting an individual with household tasks and/or providing emotional support.
- Knowledge and understanding of intellectual disability issues.
