At Inspire our mental health services focus on inclusion by providing recovery based support in communities. Ballymisert, is home to 21 people and the Inspire team provide 24-hour person-centred support to help them live independently, build resilience, and develop life skills in a supportive environment. What Makes Ballymisert Special? Ballymisert is a modern service in Belfast, consisting of 17 single flats and one shared house. The service is recovery-focused, supporting people progress towards independent living at their own pace. Here, staff don’t just provide support they empower individuals to take control of their lives. Some of the key activities and experiences that make our service unique include: Life skills development - cooking, budgeting, tenancy support. Social & recreational activities - walking groups, games nights, movie nights, themed food nights Community outings - Some of our recent outings have included Titanic Belfast & Belmont Road trips Emotional and mental health support - working alongside statutory mental health professionals, care managers, annual care reviews. What Does the Role Involve? As a Project Worker, you will: Support service users with daily living skills, medication management, and tenancy support Encourage participation in activities and social outings to promote well-being Provide emotional and practical support to individuals as they work towards greater independence Assist with appointments, shopping, and budgeting support Work alongside a team of 15, including a manager, senior support workers, sleepover staff, and project workers Take the lead during shifts in the absence of management Who We’re Looking For: People-focused, reliable, and passionate about supporting those with mental health conditions Resilient and adaptable, able to motivate service users even on tough days Great team players, able to work collaboratively but also use initiative Strong communicators, with emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills Check out the personnel spec for the role to review our experience and requirements details
Responsibilities
- Develop & maintain a trusting & professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive & empathetic manner towards them.
- Maintain clear, accurate, timely and complete electronic and written records/ documentation and appropriately use organisational information systems as required.
- Be an integral member of, and work in close co-operation with, all members of Inspire and representatives of relevant statutory, voluntary and regulatory bodies to achieve the standards set by them.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and implement new skills and knowledge to competently fulfil the requirements of the post.
- Have knowledge and understanding of, and contribute to, Inspire and Inspire Mental Health’s strategic objectives and how your role and personal objectives contribute to their achievement.
- Members of staff are expected to treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner in accordance with the Dignity at Work Procedure.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- To be flexible as the role will involve working on a rota/shift basis in Supported Housing. Shifts will include early shifts, late shifts, night shifts, weekend and/or night cover as required to meet the needs of the scheme.
- Be educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, in a related subject e.g. Care and 6 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting.
- OR A minimum of 12 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting.
- Have proven experience of motivating, supporting and mentoring Service Users.
- Experience of maintaining service user and agency records.
- Working knowledge of using IT systems.
