Job description
Join our Roots & Relationships programme as a Family Support Worker, bringing practical support directly into the community and helping families build brighter futures from the start. This hands-on role places you at the heart of local communities, delivering support where it is needed most. The Family Support Worker will provide focused support to families with complex needs, helping to strengthen parenting capacity, improve adults’ readiness for employment, and support better school attendance and learning outcomes for children. The role will also help reduce behaviours that may place children at risk. Working directly with parents and families through one-to-one support, centre-based work, and group programmes, the post holder will build skills, confidence, and resilience. The aim is to help families live safer, more stable, and more positive lives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging group sessions and drop-in support for parents, and families. Support the design and delivery of creative, needs-led programmes that promote early learning, health, and wellbeing. Build strong relationships with families, etc.
- Build strong relationships with families, helping them feel confident, supported, and empowered. Work alongside partners and colleagues to deliver a joined-up approach to early help.
- Develop a strong understanding of the needs of parents and families and deliver high-quality group work programmes focused on health and wellbeing, lifestyle, parenting, and positive relationships.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A relevant social care qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Knowledge and experience of working directly with families who have complex needs. Experience of working within culturally diverse communities.
