Job description
Holywood Family Trust has a well-established Youth Provision and through the National Lottery funding we are recruiting a Youth Worker to support the OUR Project Co-ordinator and work alongside the OUR project young people. The project has been successfully running for 16 months at Holywood Family Trust. The project will involve working with young people between the ages of 16-25 years from the Holywood and surrounding area. The purpose of the project is to provide increased opportunities for development for young people within areas they have identified. This will include on-going training, mentoring, community action, residentials and volunteering. The contract term is up to 31st March 2028
Responsibilities
- The OUR Project Youth Worker will assist in facilitating the outworking of three strands of the Project:
- OUR training: Providing young people with access to high-quality leadership training opportunities in areas including leadership, facilitation, and working with marginalised groups. Where possible, training will be accredited.
- OUR community: Young people will be supported to deliver and lead community-based events. Developed by the young-people, based on local needs they identify and linking with existing local events.
- OUR volunteering: Young-people will be given opportunities to take on volunteer leadership roles.
- Assisting in designing and writing youth work programmes and workshops, based on the needs of young people.
- Assist in delivering a one-to-one mentoring programme for programme participants.
- Assist in planning and delivering over-night residential opportunities for young people.
- Assist in motivating and supporting young people to play an active role in the project, within our models of youth participation.
- Assist in keeping up to date records.
- Work with (young adult) volunteers including recruiting, inducting, and supporting their involvement and maximising their potential.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 1 years’ experience in a paid capacity of working with and building relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds aged 16-25 years old, within the last 5 years.
- 1 years’ experience working with young people and delivering programmes in youth settings.
- Experience of writing, youth work programmes and interventions.
- OCN Level 3 qualification in youth work or relevant field. and up to date Child Protection Training.
- Willingness to attend training events connected with this programme funder and any other relevant for the position.

Desirable Skills
- Up to date First Aid Training.
- Competent in using databases of information and small group and facilitation skills.
- Understanding trauma informed practice.
Further Information
Salary: Annual gross salary £8149.44 per annum (pro-rata 12 hours per week). The post is funded by the National Lottery. Monitoring form will be supplied to the applicant with the Application Form. General Conditions of Appointment - subject to: Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background (this post involves a 'regulated activity as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order 2007. An AccessNI Enhanced with Barred List Check is necessary for the post holder. Satisfactory completion of all re-employment checks. Probationary period of 6 months.
