Job description

We are looking for a Cook, preparing fresh, nutritious, home-cooked meals. You will work independently in the kitchen, while being part of a team and reporting to a Team Leader. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.

Responsibilities

• To plan and implement a menu for residents taking into account hygiene, nutrition, variety, personal preference, special diets.
• To maintain an efficient and cost effective system for ordering all goods, foods and vegetables necessary for the preparation and cooking of meals.
• To maintain the overall safety of the scheme in accordance with the Health and Safety policy. Specifically Health and Safety Hygiene for the kitchen and food storage areas.
• Observing correct use and care of all equipment.
• Ensure that kitchen supplies and cleaning materials are well stocked and stored safely through liaison with the manager or authorised person.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• To be willing to work various shifts including weekends.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent Or willingness to work towards.
• Experience of maintaining Health and Safety and Hygiene Standards.
• Proven ability to work independently to undertake a range of routine tasks.
• Proven ability of planning and preparing menus and be able to order accordingly to meet the needs of the clients.

Location: Greenvale is a small, welcoming residential home where 11 residents with intellectual disability and autism are supported to live as independently as possible in their own home.
