Job description

Working collaboratively with other members of the Home Economics Department on developing and delivering Home Economics, Child Development and Health and Social Care throughout the school. Employing a range of active teaching and learning strategies which meet the needs of all the pupils. Monitoring pupil progress through the use of class work, homework and examination.

Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively with other members of the Home Economics Department on developing and delivering Home Economics, Child Development and Health and Social Care throughout the school.
• Employing a range of active teaching and learning strategies which meet the needs of all the pupils.
• Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils in accordance with school policies.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A teaching qualification as approved by the Department of Education (NI)
• An honours degree or equivalent in Home Economics/ Consumer Studies/ Food and Nutrition/ Nutrition and Food Science at time of appointment.
• A clear knowledge and understanding of curricular requirements for Home Economics and Child Development to GCSE Level and Health and Social Care to A-Level.

Desirable Skills

• A minimum of a 2.2 honours degree in Home Economics or equivalent.
