Job description

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be qualified and experienced in diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining light commercial vehicles to manufacturer standards, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs to ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Undertake major repairs, including engine, gearbox, brake, suspension and transmission work
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and annual inspections.
• Carry out vehicle breakdown and roadside assistance when required.
• Complete job cards, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately
• Liaise with colleagues and management regarding repairs, progress and delays.
• Ensure all work meets health and safety standards and is completed within agreed timescales.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Minimum 3 years' experience working on HGVs in a fleet, dealership or workshop environment.
• Proven experience in mechanical repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Knowledge of HGV systems, diagnostics and fault finding.
• Ability to carry out repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
• IT skills, including digital job card systems and maintenance records.
